Questions

What are UTM parameters?

Short tags added to the end of a link, like utm_source=whatsapp. Analytics tools read them to report where each visit came from, so you can compare channels and campaigns.

Which UTM parameters do I need?

utm_source names where the visit comes from, utm_medium the type of channel and utm_campaign the promotion. Add utm_term and utm_content to tell ads or creatives apart.

Are UTM values case-sensitive?

In most analytics tools, yes: WhatsApp and whatsapp show up as two sources. Pick lowercase names and use them every time.

Why use UTM tags on WhatsApp and Instagram?

Apps often hide where a visit came from, so without tags those visits look like direct traffic. A branded short link also keeps a long tagged link tidy in a message or bio.

Can I put a UTM link in a printed QR code?

Yes, but a long tagged link makes a dense, harder-to-scan code. Use the Print QR preset, then Save & track to turn it into a short link and a dynamic QR code with scan counts.

Should I add UTM tags to links inside my own website?

Usually not. Tags on internal links can overwrite the original source in your analytics. Use them on links that bring people from outside.

Do you store my links?

No. Everything is generated in your browser. Nothing you type or upload is sent to our servers or stored, and we never create a link for you without an account.
